Your Mount Meru trek begins with a friendly welcome at your hotel in Arusha.
First, you meet your mountain guides for a clear and detailed briefing.
Afterward, you drive to Momella Gate inside Arusha National Park.
From here, the trek starts through green forest filled with birds and fresh air.
Meanwhile, gentle trails allow your body to adjust to the altitude.
As you continue, the scenery slowly changes with every step uphill.
Soon, forest paths open onto ridges with wide crater views.
At the same time, volcanic slopes begin to dominate the landscape.
Additionally, an armed ranger accompanies the trek for safety and protection.
Because of this, wildlife sightings are common along the route.
For example, trekkers often see giraffes, buffalo, zebras, and antelope grazing nearby.
Gradually, vegetation thins as the terrain becomes rocky and alpine.
Eventually, summit day begins early under a dark, star-filled sky.
Then, a narrow ridge leads steadily toward Socialist Peak.
At sunrise, Kilimanjaro appears above distant clouds.
Finally, after descending, you return to Arusha for a well-earned rest.

Mount Meru is considered a moderate to challenging trek. It is suitable for fit hikers and offers excellent acclimatization, but the summit day involves steep sections and a narrow ridge near the top.
Most climbs take 3 or 4 days. A 4-day itinerary is recommended for better acclimatization, a more relaxed pace, and a higher chance of reaching the summit comfortably.
The best months to climb Mount Meru are June to October and December to February, when conditions are generally dry and clear. March to May is wetter and more challenging.
